Megadeth recently parted ways with longtime bassist David Ellefson mid-recording of their new album. The firing also put the “Metal Tour of the Year” in jeopardy. Dave Mustaine had this to say about the rehiring of Lomenzo, who was in the band from ’06-’09:
“I’m happy to announce that former bassist and MEGADETH alumni James LoMenzo has graciously stepped in on ‘The Metal Tour Of The Year’. Tour rehearsals just began, and we cannot wait to start crushing North America.”
Mustaine has not commented on who will play bass on the album, recently announced as titled ‘The Sick, The Dying and The Dead‘ or when that may be coming out. After firing Ellefson, Mustaine had his bass tracks he recorded in May of ’20 removed from the album. The tour they are co-headlining with Lamb of God was scheduled for the Resch Center but after being cancelled was not rescheduled. Megadeth will release ‘Unplugged in Boston‘ on August 20th.
