A new trailer for the horror franchise ‘Scream‘ hit the net but it’s not ‘Scream 5‘ instead it’s simply called ‘Scream‘ ala the recent titling of the ‘Halloween’ franchise.
Like ‘Halloween’ 2018, this isn’t a reboot or reimagining – though it brings a familiar plot sequencing to the screen – it’s a sequel.
Courteney Cox said in a recent interview on The Drew Barrymore Show:
“This is Scream. The directors (Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett) are incredible, they’re making it absolutely…it’s a new franchise. It’s hip. It’s scary. It’s just a new Scream. It’s not a reboot, it’s not a remake, it’s just a brand new launch. I think it’s gonna be fantastic.”
‘Scream‘ (2022) boasts a mix of familiar cast members including, Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox, and David Arquette. Sydney, Gale, and Dewey are joined by a roster of fresh newcomers including; Jack Quaid, Melissa Barrera, Dylan Minnette, Jenna Ortega, Mason Gooding, Kyle Gallner, Jasmin Savoy Brown, and Mikey Madison.
As Dept. Dewey says in the trailer, “Something feels different about this one.”
The new Scream is scheduled for a theatrical debut on January 14, 2022.
