‘Who’s to say a woman can’t think with her dick?’ is a hell of a way to make a statement on an album. I had to ask her where that came from and she gave me this answer.
‘That was a culmination of years of, you know, being in this industry as a woman and just the things you experience, and things piling on top of each other…It was in 2019 I was on tour and I was on a festival and I was the only female on the tour and it was this one comment from one guy that just tipped the scale for me, it was the straw that broke the camels back. And I was pretty amped up…I had to get back to my bus and I had to get some shit off my chest and I just started writing the song ‘King’.’
She continued giving the meat of the idea of the lyric by saying this.
“That lyric…is more of a metaphor for ‘Who’s to think a woman can’t think with her power and her dominance and her leadership?’ “
