HOBART, Wis–An investigation is underway into how a Hobart-Lawrence Police officer shot himself during a traffic stop on Wednesday. The seven-year veteran of the department had been involved in a short chase along Highway 29 after a request to conduct a welfare check on the driver.
Captain Michael Renkas says they are looking into how the gun fired.
Captain Renkas adds that the officer was not near the suspect at the time of the shooting. The officer is in “good” condition.
