Dave Grohl and Greg Kurstin’s The Hanukkah Sessions are back for it’s third year. Videos are being posted on each of the eight days of Hanukkah December 18th-26th. This season’s selection of covers were recorded live at Largo in Los Angeles on December 5th bringing in guests from all over the music world.
(This is being updated daily as the new videos are released on The official Foo Fighters Youtube channel.)
Day one:
“A little blood and plenty of schvitz went into this year’s Hanukkah Sessions— but the only tears you’ll be shedding will be tears of nachas when you hear Judd Apatow sing “Spinning Wheel” by Blood, Sweat & (No) Tears!”
Day two:
“One of the music world’s biggest and brightest stars of David, P!nk shows a couple of schmendricks how it’s done by joining us for her very own Bat Mitzvah staple “Get The Party Started!”’
Day Three:
Once referred to as the “biggest Jewish band to come out of Britain,” 10cc’s MOTs Godley, Crème and Gouldman recorded a ton of hits — here’s one of the many: “The Things We Do For Love” as sung by Inara George!
Day Four:
Born Janis Eddy Fink, a 23-year-old Janis Ian wrote one of the all time classic coming of age anthems “At Seventeen”—here it is as interpreted by Violet Grohl.
Day Five:
It’s a little known fact that our favorite Grammy-winning Guero actually has Jewish roots. From Adonai to Odelay, it’s Beck with “E-Pro!”
Day six:
Leave it to us to get the only non-Jewish member of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs to Hanukkah-ize one of their signature songs—here’s “Heads Will Roll” featuring Karen O!
Day seven:
Geddy Lee’s mother was so proud of her son that she put Rush posters up all over their family store and gave away Rush albums to kids who didn’t have money to buy them. In tribute to that proud Jewish mother, we give you — free of charge—“The Spirit Of Radio” featuring Jack Black!
Day eight:
Merry Christmukkah! Our nondenominational gift to you on this convergence of holiday cheer for the Jews and the goyim is Randy Newman’s classic “I Love L.A.” — sung by Dave Grohl!
