MILWAUKEE, Wis–The state Court of Appeals denies a request from a Brillion man that killed his mother to get a new trial. Randal Rosenthal based his appeal on regret expressed by a jailhouse informant who testified that Rosenthal confessed to the killing.
Rosenthal shot his mother, Kathleen Remter, in the back of the head and dumped her body in the Fox River near the Rapid Croche Dam back in July of 2011. The appeals judges ruled that even without the informant’s testimony, there was still enough evidence to convict Rosenthal of the murder. He continues to serve a life prison term.
