GREEN BAY, WI — Incumbent Green Bay Mayor Eric Genrich will face Brown County Director of Administration Chad Weininger in the April 4 general election. Weininger narrowly edged Genrich in Tuesday’s primary 6189-6102. Mayor Genrich remains confident going into the general election. Genrich released a statement after the primary election.
“Tonight we successfully secured our place on the April ballot. I want to thank every Green Bay citizen who has placed their trust in me again. The April election presents a clear choice for Green Bay voters: will we continue to make progress on public safety, infrastructure, and inclusive community development, or will we fall back? I’m committed to continued progress on these fronts and more, and I have a proven record to run on. Over the next six weeks I look forward to communicating the progress we’ve made and the work that’s left to be done.”
Chad Weininger credits his victory in the primary race for Green Bay mayor to meeting with people one on one. He believes that personal touch paid off.
“The mayor had four years to work on his agenda. You know I’ve had two months to talk with a couple thousand voters,” he said. “You know for the next month I’m going to talk to more. I think the message is resonating. I think there are a lot of folks out there that want to help me get Green Bay back on track. So that we have a community that’s affordable to live in. You know we’re seeing our infrastructure, our roads decaying. Many of our neighborhoods are unsafe.”
Weininger currently serves as Brown County Director of Administration and, like Genrich, serve in the state assembly.
