Season 3 of The Witcher will be split into two batches of episodes with the first streaming on Netflix beginning this Thursday, June 29th. The rest will be released to Netflix on July 27th. With the premiere of Volume 1 just days away, a full trailer has arrived.
The Witcher is inspired by a series of novels and short stories written by Andrzej Sapkowski. The series revolves around “witcher” Geralt of Rivia. ‘Witchers’ “are beast hunters who develop supernatural abilities at a young age to battle wild beasts and monsters.”
Season 3 of the Netflix series is based on the book Time of Contempt. A synopsis for this season reads:
“As monarchs, mages, and beasts of the Continent compete to capture her, Geralt takes Ciri of Cintra into hiding, determined to protect his newly-reunited family against those who threaten to destroy it. Entrusted with Ciri’s magical training, Yennefer leads them to the protected fortress of Aretuza, where she hopes to discover more about the girl’s untapped powers; instead, they discover they’ve landed in a battlefield of political corruption, dark magic, and treachery. They must fight back, put everything on the line — or risk losing each other forever.”
