APPLETON, Wis. — Fire destroys an Appleton home on Saturday morning.
The Appleton Fire Department responded to a report of a house fire in the 2200 block of E. Downs Ridge shortly after 10:30 a.m.
Upon arrival, fire crews found heavy fire in the home’s attic and smoke coming from the rear of the building.
Crews searching for people inside were pulled out of the building due to the risk of a roof collapse.
Damage to the structure and contents is estimated at $900,000, and the building is considered a total loss.
The investigation into the fire continues.
