Never in my wildest dreams did I think that CM Punk would ever walk through the curtain to walk to a WWE ring. From the lawsuit to the many many shots he’s taken at WWE and most infamously the pipe-bomb promo which sent shockwaves through the entire wrestling world. To say CM Punk and WWE have had a contentious relationship the last 8 years or so is an understatement that will only be overshadowed by his shocking return at this past weekends Survivor Series.
After Punk was fired from AEW, a move that also shocked the wrestling world, the speculations of his return to The Fed began in haste. It all seemed like fleeting ideas of hopeful, naïve internet wrestling nerds fantasy booking themselves into a shoot BUT there was a glimmer of hope. Some saw it as a for sure thing because the PLE was in Chicago. Some heard the promos Shinsuke was cutting and his use of the GTS finisher. Others heard the subtle clues from commentary. All of that built to a fever pitch going into the weekend.
I am definitely one of those people that were fantasy booking a CM Punk return but I was hesitant to believe it would actually happen. But then something happened that made me 100 percent positive that he was coming back. Living Colour releasing a remastered version of ‘Cult Of Personality’! As soon as that came out I KNEW!
