It’s not often I’m interested in the life of rock stars, especially written as an autobiography. This book though, makes me reconsider that view. I’ve been a fan of Lamb of God since Ashes Of The Wake came out while I was in high school. After watching the Killedelphia documentary I became a huge fan of Mark Morton, not just because he beat the crap out of Randy, but because he seemed like a dude that had a lot more going on than just a riff master headbanger.
Mark Morton’s book Desolation will be released on June 25th and Mark said in an interview with Rolling Stone this.
“Initially, I started writing this book just to see if I could do it. But as the writing process unfolded, it quickly took on much more meaning. Unpacking my story, I was able to observe events in my life with an objectivity that I hadn’t experienced while I’d lived them in real time. Through a lens of hindsight and recovery, I made friends with my past and found value in my most difficult days. I hope that by offering my experiences, I can create a point of connection and commonality. There are a lot of fun stories in here and a few really sad ones. I’m grateful to have the opportunity to share them.”
This doesn’t sound like your run of the mill “I drank a lot and did drugs and did party stuff now I’m sober and sorry.” type of story and for that I’m grateful. Looking forward to reading the book and hopefully seeing Lamb of God, again, on the Ashes Of The Leviathan tour this year.
