Mark Tremonti and Eric Friedman stopped by the studio back in July when Creed kicked off their first tour in 12 years at the Resch Center to talk about what he’s been working on for his solo project.
Talking with Mark about his solo work you find out that some of the songs on the forthcoming The End Will Show Us How record have been in the works for a long, long time.
‘You know you’re always in competition with yourself as a songwriter, you never want to be disappointed…we spent a lot of time putting this album together really tapped into everything I had written, I never say these are songs written in the last year. I’ll go back through the catalogues of things that have been around for years. There’s one song on this record that could be 18 years old…’
I asked the guitar legend what he was going to do with his guitar work on this album, whether he’ll be using guitars with more than 6 strings and he told me this.
‘You know I made the mistake of writing song for the ‘Last Hero’ record on a seven string and every time we play it live I’m like “I hate this seven string it just feels weird!” Especially there’s this solo on the song ‘Show Me A Leader’ that is a tough one to play and on a seven string, it’s like playing a different instrument for me. I’d rather take a detuner pedal and step on that and have the hole thing go two steps down…’
The new album will come out January 10th, 2025.
