Black Sabbath announced today that they will give one last performance and this time with original drummer Bill Ward who hasn’t performed with the band since 2005. This show will be on July 5th in Birmingham U.K. and will feature a huge selection of the top tier metal bands. Metallica, Slayer, Pantera, Alice In Chains, Gojira, Lamb of God, Anthrax, Mastodon and a bit of an outlier but still badass Halestorm. Along with those bands playing there will also be special solo performances from David Draiman, Billy Corgan, Fred Durst, Jonathon Davis and a special introduction of new Papa Emeritus V. Ozzy himself had this to say about the day.
“It’s my time to go Back to the Beginning… time for me to give back to the place where I was born. How blessed am I to do it with the help of people whom I love. Birmingham is the true home of metal. Birmingham Forever.”
The other very cool thing from this one day event is that all of the profits will go to Cure Parkinson’s, Birmingham Children’s Hospital and Acorns Children’s Hospice, a Children’s Hospice supported by Aston Villa. Tom Morello of Rage Against The Machine is the music director for the event and said more artists will be announced later. Tickets for this once in a lifetime event go on sale on February 14th, 2025.
