An Oshkosh police officer is out of a hospital, after last week’s stabbing and shooting at Oshkosh West High School.
School Officer Mike Wissink got a police escort from ThedaCare’s hospital in Neenah to his house. Police from around northeast Wisconsin were lined up outside the hospital, when Wissink walked out of the doors.
The procession also went past the high school, where students and parents were outside to support Wissink.
Police Chief Dean Smith says a 16-year-old student stabbed Wissink last Tuesday, and Wissink shot the boy.
Prosecutors haven’t formally charged the teen yet. The boy is in the Winnebago County jail.
