Paradise City is the spin-off of 2017’s American Satan and in just six days, its teaser trailer already has over eight million views. The trailer can be seen below.
The show will have a rock star-studded cast with several musicians appearing in the series including Slipknot’s Sid Wilson, Lamb of God’s Randy Blythe, Asking Alexandria’s Ben Bruce and James Cassells, Black Veil Brides’ Andy Biersack, Nita Strauss, Sleeping With Sirens’ Kellin Quinn and more.
Sumerian Records founder and creator, Ash Avildsen, said Paradise City almost didn’t happen after HBO’s Vinyl and Showtime’s Roadies came out.
“I was stopped in my tracks because HBO released Vinyl and Showtime released Roadies. I thought ‘well there it went.. I guess I’ll just work on a rock & roll movie instead’ which then became American Satan.”
When both of those shows were cancelled, Avildsen, said he thought three things:
“1- I can now try again to make the first scripted drama tv show based inside rock n roll music culture and industry. 2- There’s no way the gatekeepers will green light it because those other shows didn’t find a big enough audience and I’m too small time of a filmmaker. 3- I will do it the hard way as everyone tells me I’m crazy to try and break the rules, just like I was told when I started Sumerian Records in a tiny bedroom during the worst time in the history of the record business.”
He also said he almost had a different name for Paradise City until his brother talked him out of it.
“Thanks to my brother @tomzutaut for convincing me to call it Paradise City. He’s the legend himself that signed both Guns N’ Roses and Motley Crue. I’ll never forget hanging at the Hard Rock in Lake Tahoe, living in the hotel before I had my sanctuary up here when I was gonna call it Paint it Black and you made the case for PC. I listened.”
Biersack and Bruce are reprising their American Satan roles in Paradise City. No release date or network has been announced yet for the show, but it is set to premiere in 2020.
The Cameron Boyce Foundation will receive a portion of Paradise City‘s profits in the late actor’s honor.
