Papa Roach frontman Jacoby Shaddix recently joined me via Zoom! Jacoby brings the energy with everything he does, so it’s no surprise that he was super passionate and animated during our twelve minute conversation. We talked about everything from up and coming rock artists finally being able to get their music heard online, Papa Roach’s newest track featuring Beartooth, to Jacoby’s relationship and admiration for Ronnie Radke and Falling In Reverse. When asked about working with Beartooth’s Caleb Shomo on their top ten radio hit “Cut The Line,” Shaddix spoke on his admiration for the Beartooth frontman.
“I’ve been a Beartooth fan for a hot minute. I’ve been running into Caleb for years at shows playing shows, and he’s a great performer, great frontman, he connects with his audience. He has that thing, and when you see it on stage it’s real. That’s the type of people I wanna collaborate with.”
Papa Roach just wrapped up leg two of the Rockzilla Tour, featuring Falling In Reverse and Hollywood Undead. I asked him about his relationship with Falling In Reverse frontman Ronnie Radke, citing that although Radke is a polarizing figure, there seems to be a genuine love and mutual respect for each other. Shaddix confirmed this.
“I love what Ronnie’s doing with his music. It’s adventurous, it’s bold, it’s outside the box. Yeah he’s outspoken and not everybody loves him, but I like the guy. Straight up. We get along, we have a good time and laugh. It’s been a great run and I’m excited to see what he’s gonna do next with his music. He’s one of those figures that brings the ruckus and that’s exciting for rock music! Yeah people are getting pissed at him or whatever but you know what? People are talking about rock music.”
I also had to talk to Jacoby about the Rockzilla Tour stop at Capital CU Park here in Green Bay, and he did not hold back in saying how hard this area goes at rock shows.
“Green Bay’s show was freakin’ BANGIN’ dude it was so dope. I went out and checked out Lambeau Field on my bicycle and like, it’s legendary man! But I gotta tell you, y’all frickin’ ROCK up there man y’all throw DOWN. I definitely look forward to coming back to Green Bay and you know I love me some cheese curds.”
A massive thank you to Jacoby Shaddix for taking some time to chat! Check out the full interview as well has their latest hit “Cut The Line” featuring Beartooth below!
