OSHKOSH, Wis. — The National Transportation Safety Board releases its preliminary report on a plane crash into Lake Winnebago during EAA AirVenture.
According to the report, the T-6 Texan Warbird being flown by Devyn Reiley was in the air for 8 minutes and reached a peak altitude of 3,900 feet before descending rapidly into the lake on July 29. The plane broke into pieces and came to rest on the lakebed in about 20 feet of water.
While the cause of the crash is not indicated, the report does indicate visibility at the time was 10 miles with clear skies and a wind of 4 knots.
Reiley and her passenger, Zach Colliemoreno, were killed in the crash.
