OSHKOSH, Wis–The city of Oshkosh will move forward with a plan to replace special assessments for street reconstruction projects. The first step is to start charging city utilities for their share of project costs, which City Manager Mark Rohloff says would cover two-thirds of the costs………..
That would result in higher water, wastewater, and stormwater utility rates. The remaining $1.5-million would come from a new vehicle registration fee…….
Council member Joe Stephenson believes it is much better than big assessment bills…………..
City officials plan a “public education campaign” over the next few months to let residents and business owners know about the assessment replacement plan. Final approval could come this spring.
