If you are in the mood for a song so heavy it’ll rattle your bowels, then check this song out from Whitechapel.
As Danhausen would say, very nice, very evil. Alex Webster guitarist for Whitechapel had this to say about the track.
“There is nothing nice about Hymns In Dissonance, from the riffs, to the lyrics, to the overall vibe of the album. We attempted to write our heaviest album to date. We wanted to put out something that was shockingly menacing and brutal.”
The forthcoming album is named Hymns In Dissonance and will be a concept album that follows the story of a cultist finding people they deem worthy of being in the cult and will culminate with the cult members singing a hymn to open an evil portal that the cult leader will enter. Very Mastodon of them! Phil Bozeman describes the lyrics as such.
“Hymns In Dissonance is a mockery of the true nature of what hymns are. Hymns are melodious and harmonious. Dissonance is the opposite of melody and harmony. Dissonance represents evil. The tracks on the record are the hymns, which represent the seven deadly sins, beginning from Track three to Track ten. Tracks one and two are the introduction.”
This song is absolutely in the top tier list of Whitechapel songs and Phil pushes his vocals to the limits, seemingly show off that he is still that guy!
